Hi Cazza back i have been in hospital for 7 weeks due to a fall downstairs to begin with then the next day i could not move my legs due to the shock passing down my spine .I was like this for one week then i started to getting my feeling back but due to being stuck in bed my RA got severly painful and i was still having falls once i was mobile again.My pains were affecting my whole body and i was living on morphine every two hours.My Consultant came to see me after 3 weeks and checked me all over and diagnosed Fibromyalgia and the falls happen when i get a sharp knife like pain in the side of my head and this is caused mu nerves from my face and brain short circuiting but i get no warning and when i get the pain i just fall,my bladder nerves are also affected and i am going to be taught how to catherterise myself.I had my last two weeks at a rehab hospital with good food and physio.We live in a house but have moved out the dining room table and my husband got me a new single bed .I am gutted i have now got two lifelong conditions as i am only 44 any replys would be gratful thankyou

Oh Cazza! What an absolutely devastating time you've had!
I can't begin to imagine how this must be affecting your everyday existence and I'm sure it's going to be a long haul while you adjust once again to a new set of life circumstances. I'm terribly sorry for you.
Is there anything that can be done for the nreve / brain problem?
I'm thinking of you x x x

Dear Cazza
I am quite new to the site and have had RA for a year, I am so very sorry to hear what you have been through and can only send you my thoughts that with support from everybody around you you will pull through all this and you will get your life back on track. Try and stay positive, we all try too, and know it is not easy, at all at times.

Hi Cazza,
Sorry to hear what a dreadful time you've had.
Those falls sound very incapacitating, is there any way they can stop the nerves short circuiting?

Oh dear, how absolutely devastating for you.
I am pretty sure Fibro is related to these nerve problems, if you read the wiki entry for it; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibromyalgia
My friend has very recently been dx with it too after years of believing it was a neuro problem with no name, she is in a wheelchair. This explains how it can affect you.

I am so sorry to hear what an awful time you are having. Keep talking to your lovely friends on this forum and I am sure they will bring you great comfort.

Eek cazza, what a nightmare time you've had. Hopefully with time you will be able to get your mind round all this stuff and won't feel quite as frightened. YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Oh Cazza - what a horrendous time you've been having. This must be devastating for you on top of the RA.
We were talking about you in Leicester (only nice things!) and wondering how you are as we had not seen you on the forum for ages.
Is there any treatment for the problem which causes you to fall?

Cazza, so sorry to hear what has happened to you. Seven weeks is a long time, and obviously you need to still be very careful. Fibromyalgia is very debilitating (I was diagnosed with it only on 16 April) and on top of the RA its a complete nightmare. How awful that you have to learn to catheterise youself too, of course its for the best, but not pleasant. Keep us up to date on how you are, will be thinking of you, and sending lots of (((((((hugs)))))))) BARBARA

Dear Cazza,
I just caught up with your post and wanted to let
you know that I am thinking of you.
Seven weeks is a long time to be in Hospital.
You are such a brave lady.
I have heard of Fibromyalgia before, but did not realize
how bad it could be.
Is it similar to R.A in so far as it can get better and flare at
times?

Hi Cazza I to have fibromyaliga,they kept saying some sort nerve involvement or not then new rheumy did fibro push test and hey presto,yes it can flare mine does threw either emotional stress or overdoing things physically.it also gives the most overwhelming fatigue you can literally be walking 1 room to another and then carnt move.. sending you hugs cazza. lv melly  cuddly cats make my world seem so much more fun
